Closest alternatives

At a glance

The card in three decisions.

The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card is the most rewarding Hilton co-branded card on the market—and one of the most generous premium hotel cards overall. Automatic Diamond status, an annual Free Night Reward with no spend requirement, a $400 resort credit, a $200 flight credit and a $209 CLEAR+ credit create a package that can far exceed the $550 fee for regular Hilton guests.

The credit structure earns a 5/5 Coupon Book score because the resort and flight credits cover a substantial portion of the fee and the Free Night Reward alone can be worth $500+ at premium properties. It earns a 5/5 Keeper Card score because the combination of Diamond status and the annual Free Night Reward provides durable ongoing value that typically exceeds the annual fee even before factoring in the other credits.

Best fit

Frequent Hilton guests who want top-tier status and a Free Night Reward each year

Diamond status, the resort credit and the Free Night Reward create outsized value for travelers who stay at Hilton properties several times per year.

Current timing

175K matches the tracked points maximum

Combined with the 7/29/2026 published deadline, this is a strong moment to apply—though the 150K + Free Night Reward offer was arguably more valuable overall.

Main watchout

A $550 fee requires intentional Hilton loyalty

The credits are semi-annual or quarterly, the resort credit is limited to participating properties, and the Free Night Reward's value depends on where it is redeemed.

Current & historical offer

175K matches the points maximum; the free-night bundle was stronger.

We compare public points offers with public points offers. The 150K + Free Night Reward offer is not directly comparable to a points-only offer, so it is listed as a separate row.

Standard offer 100,000 points
Baseline Frequently observed public level. Often paired with a comparable spend requirement.
Elevated offer 150,000 points
Elevated Appears periodically. Independent tracking records this as a common elevated tier.
Tracked maximum points 175,000 points
Current offer · exact match Green outline marks the current public points-only offer. The highest points offer for this product.
Historical best w/ free night 150K + Free Night Reward
Best overall value Many people consider this the strongest Aspire offer to date, as the Free Night Reward can be worth $400–$800+ at premium properties and 25,000 extra points are worth roughly $125–$175.

Timing assessment

175K points is strong—but the free-night bundle was the historic peak.

The current offer delivers 175,000 points, the most points ever offered on this product. At a rough 0.5-cent-per-point valuation, that is about $875 in Hilton value. The 150K + Free Night Reward—valued at $750 in points plus a night worth $400–$800+—offered more total value for travelers who could use the certificate at a premium property. The published July 29 deadline creates urgency.

Why someone may still apply

A premium hotel card can make sense even if a better historical offer existed.

Apply only if the $6,000 spend is ordinary planned spending over six months, you expect to stay at Hilton properties regularly enough to use the credits, and Amex's once-per-lifetime language does not rule you out.

Card benefits

Diamond status and the Free Night Reward are the anchors.

The tiers are a Points Brief editorial assessment of decision importance and rarity among premium hotel co-branded cards—not labels supplied by Amex.

Tier 1 · Rare differentiators

Benefits whose scope or value can materially exceed the annual fee on their own.

Diamond

Automatic Hilton Honors Diamond status

Top-tier Hilton status for as long as the card is open—no annual spend requirement, no qualifying nights needed.

  • 100% points bonus on eligible Hilton stays (versus 20% for base members).
  • Daily food-and-beverage credit or complimentary continental breakfast at most brands.
  • Space-available room upgrades up to suites at select properties.
  • Executive lounge access where available (not offered at all properties).
  • Fifth night free on standard award stays of five or more consecutive nights.

Know the limits: Know the limits: upgrades are at the hotel's discretion. Lounge access varies by brand—Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and select Hiltons are most likely to offer it. The breakfast benefit differs by brand and region; some properties offer a food-and-beverage credit instead.

Free Night

Annual Free Night Reward

One Free Night Reward each cardmember year with no spending requirement—unusual among hotel cards that typically require $15,000 or more in annual spend.

  • Redeemable at most Hilton Portfolio properties for a standard room.
  • Additional Free Night Rewards after $30,000 and $60,000 in eligible purchases per calendar year.
  • The reward arrives each cardmember anniversary; the first posts after the first renewal.

Know the limits: Know the limits: blackout dates may apply at certain high-demand resorts. The certificate's value depends entirely on where it is redeemed—a night at a Hampton Inn is not the same as a night at a Waldorf Astoria Maldives. The reward expires; unused certificates are forfeited.

Tier 2 · Strong, with real structural constraints

Benefits that add significant value but require specific spending or travel patterns.

$400 Hilton Resort credit

Up to $200 in statement credits semi-annually ($400 total) on eligible purchases at participating Hilton Resorts.

Credits reset each January–June and July–December period. Not all Hilton properties are participating resorts—the list is specific. Unused semi-annual credits do not roll over. Eligible charges must be made directly with the resort.

$200 Quarterly flight credit

Up to $50 in statement credits each quarter on eligible flight purchases made directly with airlines or through Amex Travel.

Credits are quarterly—not annual—and unused quarterly credits do not roll over. The full $200 requires at least one eligible flight purchase in each calendar quarter. This is broader than the Platinum Card's airline-fee credit, which covers incidentals rather than airfare.

$209 CLEAR Plus credit

Up to $209 in annual statement credits for a CLEAR Plus membership charged to the card.

CLEAR is a separate service from TSA PreCheck and is available at fewer airports. The credit covers one annual membership; family members added to the account cost extra.

Tier 3 · Expected premium-card support

Useful protections and perks that should not drive the decision alone.

Trip cancellation and interruption Guide controls

Coverage may apply to eligible prepaid travel interrupted or cancelled for covered reasons, subject to payment and claim requirements.

Trip delay insurance Guide controls

Reimbursement may apply after a qualifying delay; waiting periods, covered amounts and documentation requirements vary.

No foreign transaction fees Travel baseline

No issuer foreign-transaction fee on purchases made abroad. Amex acceptance outside the U.S. is generally lower than Visa or Mastercard.

Car rental loss and damage insurance Secondary

Secondary coverage on eligible rentals fills gaps after personal auto policy. Terms, exclusions and vehicle restrictions apply.

Baggage insurance plan Common carrier

Coverage for eligible checked and carry-on baggage on common-carrier travel; terms, exclusions and claim procedures apply.

Return protection 90 days

If a U.S. merchant will not accept a return within 90 days, Amex may refund up to $300 per item and $1,000 per calendar year. Terms and exclusions apply.

Comparison method: Premium hotel co-branded cards, including Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant, IHG Premier, World of Hyatt and Hilton Honors Surpass; public positioning reviewed in July 2026. Tiering is editorial, and a public page's silence is not proof that a competing benefit does not exist.

Earning rates

Hilton stays earn the most; travel and dining earn a solid 7X.

Rates shown are total points per dollar on eligible purchases. Hilton Diamond status adds a 100% bonus on base points earned from Hilton stays (separate from the card's earning rate).

14X

Purchases at Hilton Portfolio hotels and resorts

Eligible purchases made directly with participating Hilton properties. Combined with the 10X base points from Hilton for paid stays and the 100% Diamond bonus, effective return can reach ~34X total.

7X

Flights booked directly with airlines

Also 7X on flights booked through Amex Travel and car rentals booked directly with select major car rental companies.

7X

U.S. restaurants

Includes takeout and eligible delivery services. No annual cap.

3X

All other purchases

Three points per dollar on purchases not eligible for another rate—a higher floor than the 1X–2X typical of most co-branded cards.

Credit interaction: Point value context: Hilton Honors points are valued at roughly 0.4–0.6 cents each in most independent analyses. At 0.5 cents per point, 14X translates to roughly 7% back on Hilton stays and 7X translates to roughly 3.5% back on dining and travel—strong for a hotel co-branded card.

Hilton Honors program

The largest U.S. hotel footprint—weaker abroad.

Hilton dominates domestic coverage with over 6,000 U.S. properties spanning budget to luxury, but thins out considerably across much of Europe, Asia and South America. Points are hotel-loyalty points, not transferable Membership Rewards. They cannot be moved to airline partners or other hotel programs.

Key redemption feature

5th

night free on standard awards

Cardholders with Aspire (and its automatic Diamond status) qualify for the fifth night free on standard award stays of five or more consecutive nights.

Standard room awards are priced dynamically based on demand—not a fixed chart—so the fifth-night savings depend on the nightly rate. Premium room awards, all-inclusive redemptions and certain high-demand properties are excluded. The benefit requires booking a single five-night stay; it does not apply across split reservations. Points-plus-cash bookings do not qualify.

  • 100% points bonus
  • Food & beverage credit
