Closest alternatives

At a glance

A $0 Wyndham card with Gold status — but 45K of the 75K offer requires $500 at Hotels by Wyndham.

The Barclays Wyndham Rewards Earner earns 5X at Hotels by Wyndham, 3X on gas (including EV charging), dining, and grocery, and 1X everywhere else — with no annual fee. It includes automatic Wyndham Gold status, 10% fewer points required for free-night redemptions, and 7,500 anniversary points after $15,000 in annual spend. The welcome offer is up to 75,000 bonus points (30,000 after $1,000 in 90 days, plus 45,000 after $500 at Wyndham in 180 days).

The Earner's main limitation is the absence of an annual free night certificate, which the $95 Earner Plus includes. At $0, the earning rates and Gold status are solid — but Wyndham's footprint skews midscale/economy, so per-point value (roughly 0.7–1.0 cents) matters. The card is a reasonable no-fee floor for Wyndham loyalists but rarely the optimal Wyndham card.

The most important offer catch is the split requirement: only 30,000 points come from the normal $1,000 spend. The remaining 45,000 require $500 at Hotels by Wyndham within 180 days. Among the hotel cards we track, no other current welcome offer makes part of the bonus depend on spending at its own hotel chain.

Best fit

Wyndham guests who want a $0 card with 5X at Wyndham and Gold status

If you refuse to pay an annual fee but want accelerated Wyndham earning, automatic Gold status, and the 10% award discount, the Earner is the entry point. The 3X on gas (including EV charging), dining, and grocery is competitive with no-fee cash-back cards.

Current timing

75K is the highest confirmed Earner amount, but 45K requires Wyndham spend

The 75,000-point headline is split: 30,000 points follow $1,000 in ordinary purchases within 90 days, while the remaining 45,000 require $500 at Hotels by Wyndham within 180 days. If you do not have a qualifying Wyndham stay, treat the offer as 30,000 points.

Main watchout

The $95 Earner Plus is usually the better Wyndham card

The Earner Plus adds a free night certificate (up to 15,000 points) after 5 paid nights, 15,000 anniversary points, Diamond status year one, and a meal-delivery credit. For $95, those benefits usually exceed the fee. The Earner makes sense only if you will not pay an annual fee. As a general rule, never carry a balance on any rewards card.

Current & historical offer

The June 2026 revamp makes older Earner offers less relevant.

Barclays revamped the Wyndham card family in June 2026, changing fees, earning rates, benefits, and welcome-offer structure. Because the product was materially refreshed, offers from before the revamp are not directly comparable to today's Earner; this section emphasizes the post-revamp 75,000-point offer.

Standard Offer 75,000
Standard Offer Up to 75,000 bonus points — 30,000 after $1,000 in 90 days, plus 45,000 after $500 at Wyndham in 180 days.

Timing assessment

The current 75K offer is the highest confirmed Earner amount, but the second tranche is restrictive.

The Earner's bonus is split between ordinary spend and a Wyndham-specific requirement. If you have a qualifying Wyndham stay planned within 180 days, the 45,000-point second tranche is straightforward; otherwise, the usable headline is only 30,000 points.

Why someone may still apply

A genuinely free Wyndham card with Gold status and real category earning.

For cardholders who will not pay an annual fee, the Earner is the only no-fee Wyndham option. 5X at Wyndham, 3X on common everyday categories, and Gold status make it functional — just not optimal compared with the $95 Plus.

Card benefits

The 10% award discount and 5X Wyndham earning carry the card; Gold status is a smaller perk.

The tiers are a Points Brief editorial assessment of decision importance and rarity among comparable $0 hotel co-brand cards — not labels supplied by Barclays.

Tier 1 · Rare differentiators

Benefits uncommon enough at this fee level to influence the card decision.

10% off

10% fewer points required for free nights

Cardholders need 10% fewer Wyndham Rewards Points for free-night awards — an effective discount on all award redemptions, with no cap.

Tier 2 · Decent earning for a $0 card

Benefits that add value but should not drive the decision alone.

Gold Automatic Wyndham Gold status

The Earner grants automatic Wyndham Gold elite status — a useful but limited mid-tier status that includes late checkout, preferred rooms, and a points bonus on paid stays. Most no-fee hotel cards grant only entry-level status.

5X 5X at Hotels by Wyndham

The Earner earns 5X on eligible purchases at Hotels by Wyndham worldwide. This is the card rate — Wyndham Rewards member earning layers on top.

Wyndham Rewards Points are estimated at 0.7–1.0 cents each, making 5X worth roughly 3.5%–5% in effective return at Wyndham properties.

Tier 3 · Anniversary points and card baseline

Benefits that add a small amount of value.

7,500 anniversary points after $15,000 annual spend Anniversary

A modest bonus for putting significant spend on a $0 card. At $15,000 spend, the 7,500 points are worth roughly $50–$75.

No foreign transaction fees and no annual fee Card baseline

Standard for travel-oriented cards. $0 annual fee with no foreign transaction fee is notable on a hotel co-brand.

Visa acceptance worldwide Network

Visa network provides broad global acceptance and standard Visa purchase protections.

Comparison method: No-fee hotel co-brand cards including Chase IHG One Rewards Traveler, Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold, and the base Hilton Honors card; public positioning reviewed in July 2026. Tiering is editorial.

Earning rates

5X at Wyndham is the headline; 3X on everyday categories is competitive for $0.

Rates shown are card-only earning. Wyndham Rewards member earning (varies by status) layers on top of the card rate at Wyndham properties.

3X

Gas stations (incl. EV charging), dining, and grocery stores

Broad everyday categories. The Earner Plus earns 4X on these same categories.

1X

All other purchases

Standard base rate. Competitive with no-fee cash-back cards if you value Wyndham points.

Value context: Wyndham Rewards Points are estimated at 0.7–1.0 cents each. At 3X on everyday spend, the effective return is roughly 2.1%–3.0% — solid for a no-fee card if you redeem Wyndham points well. Value rises at Wyndham properties with the 5X rate plus status bonuses.

Wyndham Rewards program

The largest hotel chain by property count, with a flat-redemption sweet spot at economy brands.

Wyndham Rewards is the loyalty program for Hotels by Wyndham — the world's largest hotel company by property count, with 9,000+ properties across 80+ countries. Points redeem for free nights under dynamic pricing, with strong value at Wyndham's midscale and economy brands. The Earner provides a no-fee entry point with Gold status and a 10% award-points discount.

fewer points for free nights

Cardholders need 10% fewer points for every free-night award.
