Wells Fargo Autograph Journey
Card guide overview
A $95 transferable-points travel card with strong earning rates—5X hotels, 4X airlines, 3X restaurants—but a limited transfer partner roster. The $50 annual airline credit partially offsets the fee.

At a glance
Strong earn rates, narrow transfer partners.
The Wells Fargo Autograph Journey earns 5X points on hotels, 4X on airlines, 3X on restaurants and other travel, and 1X on everything else. The $95 annual fee includes a $50 annual airline statement credit triggered by a $50 minimum airline purchase—effectively reducing the net fee to $45 for anyone who flies at least once per year.
The card's main limitation is the transfer partner roster. Wells Fargo Rewards currently transfer to fewer than 10 partners, compared to Amex's 20+, Chase's 14, and Citi's 18+. Key programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, Singapore KrisFlyer, and United MileagePlus are absent. Points are worth an estimated 1.2–1.5 cents each when transferred optimally, but flexibility is constrained by the limited partner set.
Best fit
Travelers who want strong earn rates without complex transfer strategies
5X hotels and 4X airlines are top-tier for a $95 card. If your travel spending is concentrated in these categories and you are comfortable with the available transfer partners, the earn rates are hard to beat.
Current timing
60K is the standard offer—matching the card's historical level
60K on $4,000 spend has been the consistent public offer. The card has not seen significant elevated bonuses, so there is little reason to wait for a better offer window.
Main watchout
Transfer partners are the fewest of any major transferable-points program
If you need access to Aeroplan, KrisFlyer, United, or Hyatt, you need a Chase, Amex, or Citi card. The Autograph Journey works best as a complementary earner alongside a broader transferable-points card.
Current & historical offer
60K on $4,000 spend has been the consistent standard.
We compare public points offers with public points offers. Referral, branch, targeted and mixed cash-plus-points offers are outside this ladder.
Timing assessment
60K is a solid bonus, but there is no elevated window to wait for.
The Autograph Journey has maintained a consistent 60K offer since launch. At $600 in estimated travel value, the bonus is competitive with other $95 transferable-points cards. There is no historical elevated offer to hold out for.
Why someone may wait
The transfer partner roster limits redemption value.
If you do not regularly transfer points to Air France–KLM, British Airways, or Avianca LifeMiles, the points are worth less to you than Chase UR, Amex MR, or Citi TYP. Consider whether the earning rates justify building a balance in a more limited ecosystem.
Card benefits
The earn rates are the benefit; the credits and protections are standard.
The tiers are a Points Brief editorial assessment of decision importance and rarity among comparable $95 travel cards—not labels supplied by Wells Fargo.
Tier 1 · Rare differentiators
Benefits uncommon enough at this fee level to influence the card decision.
Best-in-class earn rates for a $95 transferable-points card
5X on hotels, 4X on airlines, and 3X on restaurants and other travel are the highest earn rates of any $95 transferable-points card. The CSP earns 5X on portal travel (not direct) and 3X on dining. The Strata Premier earns 3X broadly but not 5X on hotels or 4X on airlines.
- 5X on hotels includes bookings made directly with hotels or through travel agencies.
- 4X on airlines includes tickets purchased directly from airlines.
- 3X on restaurants includes dine-in, takeout, and delivery. "Other travel" includes car rentals, cruises, transit, and rideshares.
Know the limits: The earn rates are excellent, but points are only as valuable as the redemptions they unlock. The limited transfer partner roster means fewer opportunities to maximize value compared to Chase, Amex, or Citi points.
Tier 2 · Modest perks that partially offset the fee
Benefits that add value but should not drive the decision alone.
$50 annually Airline statement credit
Receive a $50 annual statement credit after making a $50 minimum airline purchase. This effectively reduces the net annual fee to $45 for anyone who flies at least once per year.
The credit applies to airline purchases only. It requires a minimum $50 transaction—smaller purchases do not trigger the credit. This is a straightforward, easy-to-use credit compared to the CSP's $50 hotel credit which requires booking through Chase Travel.
Limited Wells Fargo Rewards transfer partners
Points transfer to a limited set of airline and hotel partners. The roster has grown since launch but remains the smallest of any transferable-points program.
Current partners include Air France–KLM Flying Blue, Avianca LifeMiles, British Airways Executive Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, Iberia Plus, and Choice Privileges. Key gaps include Star Alliance programs (United, Air Canada, Singapore, ANA) and hotel programs beyond Choice.
Tier 3 · Expected travel-card basics
Useful protections and services that should not drive the decision alone.
No foreign transaction fees Travel baseline
No issuer foreign-transaction fee on purchases made abroad.
Trip cancellation and interruption Visa Signature
Up to $15,000 reimbursement for covered trip cancellations or interruptions.
Auto rental collision damage waiver Visa Signature
Coverage for damage or theft on eligible rental cars when the rental is paid for with the card.
Lost baggage reimbursement Visa Signature
Up to $3,000 reimbursement per trip for lost luggage.
Travel accident insurance Card baseline
Up to $1,000,000 in common carrier travel accident coverage.
Comparison method: Mid-tier transferable-points travel cards including Chase Sapphire Preferred, Citi Strata Premier, Capital One Venture, and Amex Green; public positioning reviewed in July 2026. Tiering is editorial, and a public page's silence is not proof that a competing benefit does not exist.
Earning rates
The best earn rates of any $95 transferable-points card.
5X on hotels, 4X on airlines, and 3X on restaurants are unmatched at this fee level among transferable-points cards. The CSP earns 5X only through the Chase Travel portal—the Autograph Journey earns 5X on all hotel bookings, direct or otherwise.
Hotels
All hotel purchases regardless of booking channel—direct, online travel agencies, or travel agents.
Airlines
Airline tickets purchased directly from airlines.
Restaurants and other travel
Restaurants (dine-in, takeout, delivery), car rentals, cruises, transit, rideshares, and other travel purchases.
All other purchases
One point per dollar on purchases not eligible for a higher rate.
Value context: Wells Fargo Rewards points are estimated at 1.2–1.5 cents each when transferred to partners—valuing 5X hotel spending at roughly 6–7.5% return and 3X dining at roughly 3.6–4.5%. At 1X, the return drops to roughly 1.2–1.5%, which is below a 2% cash-back card. This card is a category earner, not an everyday card.
Transfer partners
A growing but still limited transfer partner roster.
Wells Fargo Rewards points transfer to the airline and hotel partners below at 1:1 unless otherwise noted. Transfers are generally final. The roster is the smallest of any transferable-points program—fewer than 10 partners vs. 20+ for Amex and 18+ for Citi.
