At a glance
A no-fee card that earns 3% on the categories most people spend on most often.
The Capital One Savor earns 3% cash back on dining, grocery stores, entertainment, and popular streaming services—four categories that cover a large share of typical household spending. All other purchases earn 1%. There is no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, and the current welcome offer is a $200 cash bonus after $500 in spend within the first 3 months.
The Savor on its own is straight cash back redeemable at 1 cent per point. Paired with a Capital One Venture, Venture X, or Spark Miles card, cash back can convert to Capital One miles at 1:1—unlocking access to 15+ airline and hotel transfer partners. This makes the Savor the everyday-earning cornerstone of a Capital One miles setup, similar to how the Freedom Unlimited anchors the Chase Trifecta.
Best fit
Everyday spenders who want strong category earning with zero annual fee
If dining, grocery, entertainment, and streaming make up a significant chunk of your monthly spending, 3% across all four categories with no caps is hard to beat at $0.
Current timing
$200 is the standard public offer
The $200 bonus with a low $500 spend requirement is straightforward to earn and matches the standard public level.
Main watchout
On its own this is cash back only. Earning 1% on all other spending means a separate catch-all card helps.
Without a Venture or Venture X, cash back redeems at 1 cent each—valuable but not transferable. And at 1% on non-category spending, pairing the Savor with a 2% everywhere card (like the Citi Double Cash) or a Venture X (2X miles everywhere) covers the gaps.
Current & historical offer
$200 is the standard public offer.
We compare public offers with public offers. Referral, targeted, and mailer offers are outside this ladder.
Timing assessment
$200 at $500 spend is easy to earn; no need to wait for an elevated level.
The standard $200 bonus requires only $500 in spend—one of the lowest thresholds of any welcome offer. At 40% cash back on spend ($200 return on $500), it is a solid bonus. Elevated $250 offers have appeared, but they are infrequent; at $0 annual fee, the ongoing earning matters more than the bonus.
Why someone may still wait
If you already have solid dining and grocery cards, the bonus alone should not drive the decision.
The Savor's value is in its ongoing 3% category earning. If another card already covers your dining and grocery spending at 3%+, the incremental benefit of adding the Savor is small—even with a $250 bonus.
Card benefits
3% across four everyday categories is the headliner; no annual fee keeps it simple.

Tier 1 · Rare differentiators
Benefits uncommon enough at this fee level to influence the card decision.
Dining, grocery, entertainment, and streaming all at 3%—with no caps
No other $0 card covers four everyday categories at 3% with no earning limits. The Chase Freedom Unlimited covers dining and drugstores at 3% but not grocery. The Blue Cash Everyday covers grocery at 3% but caps it at $6,000 per year. The Savor covers all four categories without caps—a unique combination at $0.
- Dining: restaurants, takeout, and eligible delivery services.
- Grocery: most grocery stores; excludes superstores like Walmart and Target.
- Entertainment: movie theaters, concerts, sporting events, amusement parks, tourist attractions.
- Streaming: Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Spotify, and other popular streaming subscriptions.
Know the limits: The 3% grocery category excludes superstores and warehouse clubs. If a large share of your grocery budget goes to Walmart, Costco, or Target, the effective grocery earning rate will be lower.
No foreign transaction fee—rare on a $0 cash-back card
The Savor has no foreign transaction fee, making it usable abroad. Most no-fee cash-back cards charge 3% on international purchases, which cancels out the category earning. The Savor earns 3% on dining and grocery worldwide without the FTF surcharge.
- Dining abroad earns 3% with no FTF penalty—rare at $0.
- Capital One also has no minimum redemption for cash back.
Tier 2 · Solid everyday value
Benefits that add value but are available on some $0 peers.
3% Entertainment category—unusual for a no-fee card
Entertainment at 3% covers movie theaters, concerts, sporting events, amusement parks, and tourist attractions. Most $0 cards do not have a dedicated entertainment category. The Savor and the Wells Fargo Autograph are the main no-fee exceptions.
Capital One defines entertainment broadly—it includes most venues and events where you pay for admission. Check Capital One's current merchant category list for specific exclusions.
1:1 Convert cash back to Capital One miles with a Venture or Venture X card
When you also hold a Capital One Venture, Venture X, or Spark Miles card, cash back earned on the Savor can be moved to miles at 1 cent = 1 mile. This converts the Savor's 3% categories into 3X transferable miles—competitive with premium travel cards at a $0 annual fee.
The conversion is optional and not automatic. In the Capital One app or website, you can move cash back rewards to an eligible miles card. Once moved, miles can be transferred to 15+ airline and hotel partners or redeemed for travel at 1 cent each.
Tier 3 · Expected card services
Useful protections and services that should not drive the decision alone.
World Elite Mastercard purchase protection World Elite
Coverage for eligible purchases against damage or theft within 90 days.
Extended warranty protection World Elite
Doubles the manufacturer's warranty up to one additional year on eligible items.
Auto rental collision coverage World Elite
Secondary coverage for eligible rental car damage or theft when the full rental is charged to the card and the rental company's CDW is declined.
Cash back does not expire Rewards
Rewards have no expiration as long as the account remains open. No minimum redemption amount.
Capital One Entertainment access Access
Access to exclusive events, presales, and dining experiences through Capital One Entertainment.

Capital One ecosystem: When paired with a Capital One Venture, Venture X, or Spark Miles card, Savor cash back can be moved to miles at 1 cent = 1 mile. At 3% on dining and grocery, this is effectively 3X Capital One miles with no annual fee. Capital One miles transfer to 15+ airline partners (most at 1:1) and 3 hotel partners, and are estimated at 1.5–1.8 cents each when transferred strategically. At 3X miles valued at 1.5 cents, the effective return is roughly 4.5%—comparable to premium travel cards on these categories.
The Capital One ecosystem
Savor + Venture or Venture X = miles on everyday spending and travel.
The Savor is not a travel card—its role is to earn strong cash back on everyday categories. When paired with a Venture or Venture X, cash back converts to Capital One miles, making this the Capital One equivalent of the Chase Trifecta.
Ecosystem strategy
1:1cash-to-miles
Move Savor cash back to a Venture or Venture X card and it becomes Capital One miles at 1:1.
In the Capital One app or website, go to Rewards and select "Move Rewards" to transfer Savor cash back to an eligible miles card. The conversion is optional and instant. Cash back remains as cash until you choose to move it—there is no automatic conversion.
